Update #6 on Final Project

To display my video I want it to be projected onto a wall or screen. I want the computer, speakers, and projector to be hidden in a box type stand. On top of the stand I want there to be a mouse so people can interact with the video. Here is an outline of what I want it to look like:

I think to get the stand I am going to go thrift shopping to see if I can find anything that could work.

Update #5 on Final Project

With the footage that I have, I connected some of the footage to show how the options will work when the user wants to choose. It is a rough copy of the video meaning there is no effects on the video yet. I also need to add audio to the video which I want there to be a soft music in the background along with some of the clips having their original audio.

Update #4 on Final Project

I am still collecting more footage for the video but I have constructed this device so it is easier to control the camera and not have to hold it in my hand. The device is a helmet that has a wood stand connected to it so a camera can be screwed in. The camera gives a great first person point of view. I think that this device will help with some of the footage that I need to collect like when I go bowling and mini golfing.

Update #3 on Final Project

So far I have gotten some footage for the video. The first footage I took was of me going to a movie theater and showing the struggles of getting out of the car, and walking up and down the stairs in the theater. The next footage that I shot was of me going to a football  game and the challenges of not being able to stand up for the whole entire game. This leads to not be able to see the game and thus leaving the game early. I still need to collect more footage and activities.

Update #2 on Final Project

The biggest challenge so far has been trying to figure out how to express pain in the video. After getting some feed back from the class I have decided that I am going to incorporate color in the video. I will add a red effect sound the edges of the screen and the red will intensify with the more pain the avatar feels when doing a certain activity. I am still debating on whether or not I want to include voice over or pop up text boxes. It will look a little like a videos game does when the screen changes color.

Update #1 on Final Project

Working on this project has been a little challenging but it is doable. I have not worked with premiere pro before so I have been spending a lot of time researching youtube videos on how to work with that software. I have also been researching youtube for some help on making interactive videos and I have found some interesting examples.

This example here shows how the user can choose where the person runs next.

I want to use this video as an example of how mine will be interactive I want the user to be able to choose where they go in the video.

My Final Project Idea

After thinking about my first project idea I realized that it was going to be to ambitious and to complicated so I decided to change my idea. My final idea for my project is to create an interactive video that shows what it is like to live with Rheumatoid Arthritis. I want to show different scenarios of my everyday life and how things that seem easy can be difficult and challenging. I want to include scene of waking up in the morning, opening a bottle of water, going to the movies, a football game, bowling, mini golfing, out to dinner, taking meds and having difficulty opening the bottles, as well as trying to put on shows and zipping up a jacket.

My First Project Idea

For my first project idea for the semester I wanted to create an interactive website when the user typed something in each letter would correspond to a video clip. I also wanted each video clip that went with a letter to be randomized meaning that each letter would be associated with about 5 to 10 different video clips. After some research and trying to figure out how this could be achieved I realized that I would probably need some more coding experience than I have and my idea might be a little too ambitious. I could really figure out where to start off and how it would work well without being to much.
